BEHIND THE DESIGN

So this is the section where I go on about myself, detailing all the ‘amazing’ things I’ve done and tooting my own horn, okay… ::toot:: toot::!

Now that that’s done, I’ll offer a little background about myself and my design career. I completed my BFA in Surface/Pattern Design, Cum Laude, from Syracuse University in 2008. After graduation, I moved into Manhattan and worked for a couple different companies as a surface and textile artist such as CHF, Town & Country Living. I then found a more permanent position at Revman International, Inc. where I designed home goods over five years (prints, textiles, and hard products) for major brands and retailers. It was there I learned the ins-and-outs of designing branded product and maintaining brand aesthetic across all categories.

Life in Manhattan wasn’t everything I dreamt about, so I moved to sunny Santa Monica, CA in 2014. There I made the switch from designing home goods to apparel at BCBG Max Azria Inc. At BCBG I worked as a CAD artist to design apparel prints, embellishments, fabric burnouts, etc. and was quickly promoted to manage a special print placement team for three years. I fell in love with designing for apparel products there– no greater thrill than seeing someone wear a product you’ve had a part in developing!

BCBG filed for bankruptcy in 2017, so I traveled a bit, fell in love, and moved to New Orleans, LA. I’ve been freelancing with my own solo company since then — designing textiles for apparel, home goods, and branded product for companies such as TJX, Topo Designs, Pact Apparel, and Blankie Tails, Inc to name a few. I pride myself on being able to work closely with design teams, quick turnaround, staying on top of industry trends, and understanding of product development from concept through final production/QC.

I now live with my husband and family in Thornton, CO. Outdoor ‘junkies’ — we crave hiking, biking, and skiing. I’ve completed 3 marathons, with a lifetime goal of 10.

To wrap this up– when I’m not being socially awkward, you can find me behind-the-scenes researching trends, playing in Photoshop, sketching on random sheets of paper, or trying to find the best cup of coffee this sweet world has to offer.
